Last night we celebrated the Wolf's 51st birthday. It was a perfect night - little biking and BBQ-ing.
The birthday boy with his party planner.
Jil, Shellie and Joanne. (By the way, it's so fun to have Shellie here. Wish she could come to all of the birthday parties).
Karl & Curt.
Wyatt & Lindsay.
Grant, Jackie, Phil.
Gabe doing some stellar skateboard trick.
Gabe & Chloe.
Grant & I.

Scout provided endless entertainment.
Christian & Lisel.
G Star, Wy & Linds.Blowing out birthday candles.

Chloe ran a mile in PE and then she had soccer for 2 hours, which she ran over three miles, and then went straight up the mountain to mountain bike with my dad, Grant, Christian and Lisel. She then ate this entire piece of carrot cake.
Gabe's enjoying the present opening.
The Leadville Belt Buckles.
And a new espresso machine. How Euro.
...
Riley we missed you.
...
And to Joyce,
I've already sampled the ice creams. They are incredibly delicious!

LEADVILLE 100

(through the eyes of the pit crew)

RIDER: WOLF

OFFICIAL PIT CREW: BECKY, GRANT, HAYLEY, CHLOE, WYATT, LINDSAY, CHRISTIAN, LISEL

We have gone to this same pizza place every night before the big race.

August 9th, 2008.

The alarms went off at 3:30 am Saturday morning. Grant cooked hot oatmeal, I made sure everything was packed for the crew, Chloe rolled out of bed and into the car.We arrived in Leadville at about 5:00am. The town was still dark, barely 40 degrees, and filled with hundreds and hundreds of bikers.
The beginning of a long and grueling day.We waited for the start in the Hotel Delaware.
Wyatt and Lindsay. Bright and early.

The bikers.

...

The race started at 6:30am. Lance Armstrong brought in quite the crowd so getting to the starting line was more hectic than normal.

For some reason Wyatt was having a hard time seeing.

Crowds and Crowds of people.

Lance. Front Center. Number 7.

And they're off...

FIRST STOP: FISH HATCHERY

Grants hours and hours of practicing finally payed off. Greatest push off in our career to date.
...
Since there were so many people this year getting from the first stop at the Fish Hatchery to the second stop at Twin Lakes, was more difficult than we expected. Larry rode in as we were walking up. We all panicked, ran to him as quick as possible, fueled him up, and sent him off to do the most insane climb of the 100 miles.
...
After he was off we ate our lunch at 10:30 am and waited for Lance.
Lance rode by us and threw his snack right in front of Christian.

Breakfast of Champions: chocolate frosting and a banana on a roll.
(We brought this home!)

The rest of the Robert crew.

Waiting and waiting all the while Larry is climbing and climbing.

After Columbine. The face explains it all...

3rd STOP: BACK TO THE FISH HATCHERY

4th STOP: TURQUOISE LAKE.
...
When we arrived to the 4th and final stop it was hot and sunny. Soon the clouds rolled and then it poured and poured.

Soaking wet with mud in the eyes.
Chloe's concerned.
...
This was the last stop we saw him at. We then went to the finish line and waited.
Exhaustion after a 15 hour day.

Finish 11 Hours 07 Minutes

Wyatt posing for GQ.

...
I'm always left in awe and amazement after the Leadville race. It's unbelievable what can be accomplished.
...
After the race we had a few days to spend in Vail.
...
So we shopped, ate and played tennis.
Lindsay, Chloe, Becky, Hayley

After dinner Sunday night.
How could I not take a picture of this! We were laughing so hard it hurt.
Chloe couldn't help herself.
Monday we ate lunch at the Lionshead village in Vail.

Ate the most delicious Gellato.

...

And then drove home.

...

Another successful Leadville trip.

...

Missed all who couldn't be there.
