7.19.11

Yesterday, Grant and I took Monet to the Thanksgiving Point Farm. She loved it just as much as I thought she would.

The best part was when she went on the horse. She didn't want Grant to lay a finger on that saddle. Just like everything, she wanted to "do it all by myself." She was such a natural. She didn't even slosh from side to side. She just went around and around as calm as can be. It gave me a flash back of all those summers spent on horses. It made my heart ache for grandpa Karl.

But we had such a fun time. Monet was in animal heaven. We walked around and looked at everything twice. (She would have stayed much longer but Grant and I were sweating to death!)

I'm so in love with summer... and with this little girl.

Joyce gave Monet this gorgeous necklace when we were in Zions. Isn't it so perfect and so sweet. Monet calls it her "princess necklace."

7.3.11

Grant and I left Monet with my parents and Chloe while we set off to Kauai. Grant was the best man at his best friends wedding. We stayed at the Grand Hyatt which was amazing. The nicest hotel I've ever stayed at. The pools were unbelievable. It was so much fun playing tennis every morning, laying out all day and then doing wedding events every evening. We really had the best time. ...

Sunday was the day of the wedding and also the day that my parents, Chloe and Monet flew into Kauai for another week long vacation. I was so anxious to see Monet but she was long asleep by the time we arrived. I felt like I was sleeping next to the Christmas tree, but not allowed to open any of the gifts. But at 3:30 am she woke up and I could tell she was startled so I quietly walked to her crib and said, "it's ok, it's mama" and there was a long pause and then she says, "Hi MAMA!" It was adorable. I put her in bed with us and for the next two hours she didn't say a word she just snuggled her face in my neck, and rolled all over me, and laid on my chest. It was like the best moment ever.

...

And then round two of the trip began. We had the best time. There isn't anyone more fun to be on vacation with than your own family. Monet was such a sweetheart. She played in the sand. We played in the pools. We swam by sea turtles and had plenty of shaved ice and went out to nice dinners. It couldn't have been any better.
